the Artist

Photography begins with people. Every face, gesture, and fleeting moment carries a story worth remembering. I believe the most powerful photographs aren’t staged they’re discovered through patience, empathy, and genuine human connection. This philosophy guides my work toward emotion rather than events and toward quiet, everyday moments that reveal deeper truths.

I am Sasindu Pramuditha, a documentary, street, and travel photographer based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, focused on human-centered visual storytelling. For more than twelve years, I have documented ordinary lives across Sri Lanka and beyond, capturing themes of devotion, resilience, labour, and quiet joy.

In 2025, I received the National Award for Sri Lanka at the Sony World Photography Awards for the image Devotion, which was exhibited at Somerset House in London and included in the World Photography Organisation’s travelling exhibition. My work has also earned awards at the State Visual Arts Festival, top placements on 35AWARDS, and selection among 25 international photographers for the 4th Punctum Photography Festival in North Macedonia, where my series was shown in the main exhibition Eyes Open When It’s Dark.

I hold a Bachelor of Technology in Multimedia & Web Technology and have worked as photography and IT teacher, mentoring students in visual storytelling and digital creativity. I am seeking collaborations with editorial publications, travel brands, tourism boards, cultural institutions, and workshop organisers for documentary projects, editorial commissions, assignments, and photography workshops.
